Don warns students against cultism, drug abuse

The chairperson of anti-cultism campaign committee of the University of Ibadan (UI) Centre for Social Orientation (CenSo), Prof. Helen Labeodan, has advised students against cultism and drug abuse, saying they prevent people from actualising their goals.

Labeodan, who spoke during a counselling session with students of Polytechnic High School, Ibadan, enjoined them to be diligent in their academic pursuits and develop character traits that’ll help in achieving their goals.

Labeodan also encouraged the students to be bold enough to report any form of attack to their families and appropriate security units to avoid becoming victims.

The committee also urged the students to carefully choose their friends, and make decisions that will enhance their prospects.

Besides, the group stressed the need for the students to engage in productive activities, rather than get involved in cultism.

In his remarks, the senior boy of the school, Gideon Ajayi, appealed to the committee to extend its corporate social responsibility to the school by offering photography lessons to interested students.
