Don’t be distracted by naysayers’ rant, Aregbesola’s caucus urges loyalists

Rauf Aregbesola

The Omoluabi Progressives, a caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, loyal to a former governor, Rauf Aregbesola, yesterday, condemned the mainstream party under the leadership of the current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, that dismissed the caucus and its leader.

The Omoluabi Progressives, in a statement signed by its Organising and Publicity Secretary, Abosede Oluwaseun, urged loyalists of the former governor and members of the group not to be distracted by “the ranting of the naysayers.”

Oluwaseun said the response of people had been “encouragingly enormous, calling on more people of the state to pitch their tent with the party’s caucus.

He said: “At Omoluabi Progressives, our mission is to empower communities and champion progressive ideals to create a more just, equitable, and prosperous society.

“Omoluabi Caucus is dedicated to upholding the ideals of progressivism as exemplified by Obafemi Awolowo, Michael Adekunle Ajasin, Abraham Adesanya, Bola Ige, and other visionary leaders who have shaped the political heritage.”

“We make no discrimination based on ethnicity, religion, occupation, economic status, and any circumstance of birth, except in adherence to our core values and character. We are open to all people, young and old, rich and poor, educated or otherwise, traders and blue collar, landowners and tenants.”

“We urge our teeming followers, lovers and followers not to be distracted by the ranting of the naysayers to the Progressivism ideas as laid down by our political fathers. This same set of political novices had run down the progressive party and lost power under their watch in 2018.”

He lambasted the leadership of the major opposition party in the state for running the party aground and losing power to the People’s Democratic Party.
