Former governor of Edo State, Senator Adams Oshiomhole has expressed confidence in the caliber of persons in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Edo State Governorship Campaign Council, saying the party’s candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo is a man with minimum words but maximum wisdom.

The APC Campaign Council in Edo State is headed by Senator Mathew Urhoghide with 36 directorates.

Oshiomhole, the senator representing Edo North spoke Friday in Benin at the inauguration of the APC Campaign Council.

He noted that after a careful survey of Edo’s political landscape, the APC is poised to upstage the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as the ruling party in Edo State peacefully and democratically, come September 21.

“We are going to win this election democratically. We want to win this election democratically without violence. We are campaigning for a peaceful change of government. That is what democracy is all about.”

The former president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) said that in Senator Monday Okpebholo, the APC is fielding a candidate with minimum words but maximum wisdom.

He added that “The campaign is operation win your unit, ward, local government and senatorial district. Talk to your uncle, nephew, neighbour who is a member of APC, and who has a son who is in APC.”

In his remark, the APC governorship candidate, Senator Okpebholo (Edo Central), promised to bring inclusive governance to the people if he wins the forthcoming election.

Senator Urhoghide tasked members of the campaign council to work tirelessly for the victory of the APC candidate, noting that Edo people are determined to battle against what he insisted is the replacement that Governor Godwin Obaseki wants to impose on them in the person of the PDP governorship candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo.

While appealing to aggrieved members of the party to shield their swords and work for the success of the party in the election, the director general, advised the APC candidate to shun any avoidable distraction from friends and family members.

The acting state chairman of the party, Jarrett Tenebe, expressed confidence in the composition of the campaign council.

Tenebe lamented the present polarisation of the state under Governor Obaseki, arguing that the state government has brought more hardship and untold suffering to the people.

Present at the ceremony were two former deputy governors of the state, Mr. Pius Odubu and Lucky Imasuen; Gen. Charles Airiavhere, two former speakers of the state House of Assembly, Mr. Frank Okiye and Justin Okonebo.

Others are Hon. Gani Audu, Hon. Chris Okaebe, former APC chairman, Col. David Imuse (rtd), Hon. Osaro Obazee, Mr. Lawrence Okah, Edo State APC Secretary, Mr. Frank Ilaboya and a host of others.
