Edo guber: Governorship contest between masses, state govt, FG, says Imansuangbon

• Edo people have no business with poverty, says Iseghohi
• Blame Obaseki, NWC if we fail to field candidate, says PDP secretary

A frontline governorship aspirant of the Labour Party (LP) in Edo State, Kenneth Imansuangbon, yesterday, said that the battle for the soul of Edo State is going to be between the masses, the state government and the Federal Government.

He noted that the people are tired of the shenanigans of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) successive governments in the state.

Imansuangbon made the assertion after submitting his nomination and expression interest forms, saying that he represents the masses, otherwise known as ‘Street Governor.’

The LP aspirant boasted that he remained the only aspirant that could secure victory for the party in the September governorship election.
ALSO, another LP governorship aspirant, Tom Iseghohi, has promised to create and bring massive investments to Edo if elected governor.

Iseghohi said that with the abundant human and natural resources available in the state, citizens have no business being poor. Iseghohi said this while speaking to newsmen shortly after submitting his expression of interest and nomination forms at the Labour Party National Secretariat, yesterday, in Abuja.

He said: “In Edo State, we have several issues we should not be having. Today, we have a huge problem with security; we have an economic problem, and we have a problem with the rule of law.

MEANWHILE, Secretary, Edo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hilary Otsu, said Governor Godwin Obaseki should be blamed if the party fails to field a candidate for the upcoming Edo gubernatorial election.

Otsu said this in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Abuja, yesterday, noting that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party should also share in the blame. He was reacting to the prospects of the party failing to have a candidate for the election, owing to the crisis that trailed its ward congresses’ election.

Most of the governorship aspirants rejected the outcome of the congresses, which will form the nucleus of voters in the primary. However, the Chairman of the Congresses Election Committee, Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, said the elections were transparent. Otsu said that it was incumbent on Obaseki and NWC to initiate a genuine reconciliation process that would bring about unity.
