Edo SUBEB boss advocates inclusion, gender equity

The Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (Edo SUBEB) Chairman, Ozavize Salami, has noted that inspiring inclusion at all levels is critical for creating gender equity in the society.

Salami gave this charge in her address to commemorate Women’s History Month this March. This year’s celebration under the theme, ‘Inspire Inclusion,’ was a call to action to accelerate progress by investing in women and inspiring inclusion.

She noted that Edo State, through regular teacher professional development training, is improving the lot of women, and helping inspire the younger generation to aim high in achieving their dreams.

She said: “To inspire inclusion, we recognise that all women can and must be carried along to achieve significant progress in the quest for gender equality.

“When opportunities open up for a few of us, it can serve as access paths for many more women and young girls. Each one of us, in our way, can be enablers, champions, ladders and lifters for other women and younger girls.”

Over 7,000 female teachers have benefitted from online courses on remote teaching by the Board, providing them with digital skills needed for 21st-century teaching and learning.
