Maryam Abacha American University of Niger (MAAUN) has congratulated one of its alumni, Abdulkareem Maude, on his nomination as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Kano State, as well as his forthcoming elevation to the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
In a statement made available to The Guardian, the University’s founder and President, Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, described Maude as an outstanding legal practitioner whose achievements reflect the values of excellence and integrity nurtured by the institution.
Professor Gwarzo praised the nominee as a diligent lawyer who has consistently distinguished himself in the legal profession, adding that his dual recognition by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the Supreme Court demonstrates the depth of his professional contribution.
Maude is expected to be formally conferred with the SAN title at a ceremony at the Supreme Court on Monday, a milestone that places him among Nigeria’s most respected legal figures.
“His nomination as Attorney General and his elevation to the rank of SAN are testaments to his hard work, dedication and commitment to justice and the rule of law,” Professor Gwarzo said, noting that the development was a source of pride for the MAAUN community.
The university expressed confidence that Maude’s career will serve as a source of inspiration to students and alumni, reinforcing its commitment to producing graduates who contribute meaningfully to national development.
