The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has held Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Gusau, Prof. Magaji Garba, for questioning over an alleged N260m contract scam.

He was detained on Thursday, January 28, 2021, after the commission invited him for interrogation over his involvement in a case of abuse of office, corruption and contract scam.

An EFCC source disclosed that sometime in 2018, Garba obtained N260m from one Alhaji Shehu Sambo, owner of Ministaco Nigeria Limited on the pretext that the university would award him N3b contract for the construction of perimeter wall fence around the institution, which never manifested.

EFCC’s investigators are, therefore, quizzing Garba to determine what happened to the money.

The commission’s Spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed the arrest but declined to give further details.
