Eid-el Adha: Ganduje urges Nigerians to be compassionate, generous

*IPAC Seeks Prayers, Tolerance
* ACF Laments Hardship, Poverty Amid Celebration

As Nigerians celebrate the Eid-el Adha, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has called on Nigerians to sustain the culture of generosity to one another.

In a congratulatory message to Muslim Ummah, he reminded Nigerians on the need to celebrate their diversity and work towards a united Nigeria.
Ganduje, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, said the “festival of sacrifice” is a celebration of faith, obedience and devotion.

He said the festival, which is a day to commemorate the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ismail as an act of obedience to Allah’s command should serve as a reminder to Nigerians on their need to be godly irrespective of their religious leanings.

He enjoined Nigerians to reflect on the lesson of the festival by sustaining its values and principles in support of Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s administration in his steady steps to make Nigeria great.

SIMILARLY, the Inter Party Advisory Council, (IPAC), yesterday, felicitatedwith Muslims across the country on this year’s Eid-el Kabir celebrations, urging them to use the occasion to pray, renew their faith in Allah and the nation.

IPAC enjoined Muslim Ummah, and Nigerians to imbibe the virtues of obedience, sacrifice, love, tolerance, peace and patriotism.

The National Chairman of IPAC, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, urged governments at all levels to formulate and implement people-oriented policies and projects that will assuage the suffering of the masses.

He said: “The essence of government is to provide security and welfare to the people as stipulated in Section 14(2)b of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, which states that the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government.

“Nigerians expect a fair deal from their government. Accordingly, the Federal Government should effectively tackle insecurity in the country to pave the way for economic recovery, political stability, socio-religious harmony and sustainable development.

“Nigeria is the only country we can call our own, let us unite and salvage it together to build a brighter, better and greater democratic nation.”

ALSO, AREWA Consultative Forum (ACF) has lamented the economic hardship facing Nigerians in the midst of this year’s celebration of Eid-el Adhaby Muslims across the world.

The Northern Elders, therefore, urged the Federal Government to brace up and address the crippling economic situation that is facing the citizens by tackling the menace.

ACF also urged all Nigerians and the pilgrims in Saudi Arabia, who will be observing the Arafat Day, to include the nation in prayers for divine providence.

In a statement by the National Publicity Secretary of ACF, Professor Tukur Muhammed-Baba, yesterday, “Eid-el-Kabir celebrations clearly transcend merriments. Most importantly it provides ground for engaging in deep spiritual reflections and extension of good will to those caught up in daily struggles with difficult existential challenges.

“ACF appreciates the efforts being made by various government agencies to confront the challenges facing Nigerians. However, it is inescapable that the efforts are not nearly enough, adequate or effective because the challenges refuse to abate.

“Living conditions continue to deteriorate; food inflation is at historic high, the Naira remains wobbly and fumbling and loosing value, just as health, education, water and sanitation, energy and transportation costs, among others confront citizens daily.”
