Nigeria on path of prosperity with Tinubu, says APC chieftain
Ekiti State government has dismissed claims of over-voting by an opposition party in last week’s presidential election, saying the result was the true reflection of the wishes of voters in the state.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) scored 201,494 votes across the state to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with 89,554 votes, while Labour Party (LP) with 11,397 votes and New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) got 264 votes in the state.
But one of the opposition parties had rejected the Ekiti poll, alleging over-voting.
According to the government, nobody was influenced to vote in the election.
Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Habibat Adubiaro, during a media briefing in Ado-Ekiti, said APC earned the victory due to the sterling performance of Governor Abiodun Oyebanji.
“We didn’t influence anybody, whether a day before election or during the election. The victory in Ekiti was earned because of the good works of Governor Oyebanji. Since he resumed office, he has done well in providing infrastructure and paying pensioners and workers arrears. So the people saw his performance as unprecedented.
“This was why people trooped out to vote for APC candidate. People are very happy with the governor and they gave his party unprecedented victory,” he said.
MEANWHILE, an APC chieftain in the state, Dr. Olusegun Osinkolu, declared that Nigeria is on the path of greatness, peace and prosperity with Bola Tinubu of APC winning the presidential election.
The former Director General, Buhari/Osinbajo Campaign Council in Ekiti, said Tinubu possessed the required charisma, administrative acumen and widespread political network to navigate Nigeria’s bumpy presidency and deliver as promised.
Osinkolu, in his congratulatory message to Tinubu, yesterday, commended Nigerian voters for placing high premium on competence, by electing Tinubu in the electoral battle.
