.Opposition crying wolf where there’s none, says APC

The Ekiti State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), at the weekend, criticised Governor Biodun Oyebanji for appointing new 110 aides in addition to the already bloated cabinet despite the state’s meagre resources.

The opposition party, which was reacting to the recent appointment of over 110 aides, described the exercise as an alleged attempt to siphon the state’s treasury for governor’s second term ambition.

The PDP’s Publicity Secretary in the state, Raphael Adeyanju, in a statement made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti, said that the governor had turned the state into a poverty alleviation centre for his party members.

He also said that Oyebanji had abandoned governance for politicking.

Meanwhile, in his reaction, the state’s Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Segun Dipe, said: “I think as usual in politics, they (PDP) are crying wolf where there is none.”

“I want them to tell us what the governor is supposed to be doing and that he’s not doing.

“Don’t forget that when he first came to power for months, they were complaining that he didn’t do any appointments and people started complaining. He said he was trying to fix the state, especially in infrastructure and other areas before considering appointment of people.

“When PDP was in power, they were not paying salaries or responding to the needs of the people.

“The governor is not only appointing people from his own party; he is appointing from the opposition party so that people at the grassroots will feel the impact of government.”
