The Kaduna State Government has started embarking on the distribution of notices of demolition exercise to the affected people in the state.

Property owners were warned that they would pay for the demolition.

It would be recalled that the Kaduna State Urban Planning and Development (KASUPDA) had already secured the approval to embark on the final phase of the demolition exercise, which also affected the property of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) otherwise known as Shittes, the Gbagyi villa residential complex, illegal structures at Kawo General Hospital, Polo Club, and other unauthorised structures in the state.

Meanwhile, in an official letter, marked “Our Ref. KBP/15017”, issued to illegal developer along Gwagwalada Crescent Millennium City and dated May 9, 2023, the Director General, KASUPDA, Ismail Umar-Dikko said: “The authority has observed that you have illegally erected structures at the above address without the approval of the authority. This action of yours contravenes Section 27(1) of the Kaduna State Urban and Regional Planning Law, 2018.”

“In view of the above, you are, hereby, given 21 days within which to remove the illegal structures. Failure to adhere with the directive above, the authority will have no option than to demolish the illegal structures at your expense, in accordance with sections 60(2) and 62 of the aforementioned law”, he added.
