Elect northerner as president for equity sake, PDP chieftain urges South

NIGERIA ELECTIONS 2023 WIDGET
Chieftains of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State, Bulus Bature, has canvassed for fairness in governance, stating that Northern Nigeria still has four years to equal the south in terms of producing president since return to democracy in 1999.

Speaking in Kaduna on state of the nation, Bature explained that for the sake of equity, the South should support the North in ensuring that a northerner emerges Nigeria’s leader at next weekend’s presidential election.”

He said: “It is only when this is done that one can say that Nigerians are carried along in power sharing. We should be sincere to ourselves as a nation so that we work as a family and ensure that no section has an upper hand in leading the affairs of the country to the detriment of the other.”

Bature pointed out that northern candidates vying for the nation’s topmost seat are credible and capable to pilot the ship of state, charging: “It is by so doing, that the South could be supported by the North in the 2027 general elections to produce a southerner as president of the country.

“It is natural that we carry each others along in the leadership of the country. It will be unfair for a particular section of the country to dominate leadership to the detriment of the other, thereby creating unnecessary problems, leading to crisis and mayhem, simply because some feel cheated.”

As a developing country, he observed that every part of the country should be given opportunity to showcase its leadership potential, stressing that it is by doing so, that unity, peace and understanding would be attained for development of the country in all spheres of life.

He added that those warning the North against their aspiration have no right to do so, observing: “Everything should be done based on mutual understanding of one another for the overall development of Nigeria.”

The PDP stalwart called on Nigerians to be sincere in all they do, especially in ensuring that the presidency is rotated between the North and South in the interest of Nigeria’s development.
