Emir urges Nigerians to be peaceful after announcing results

The Emir of Nafada, Alhaji Muhammadu Dadum-Hamza, on Saturday  urged people of Gombe State to remain peaceful after announcing the Governorship and State House of Assembly election results.

The emir made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Nafada, Nafada  Local Government Area, Gomber State.

He said no meaningful development would be achieved without peace, adding that the March 28 presidential election had been the best and most credible in the history of the country.

The emir commended people for maintaining peace and order during the exercise despite the challenge of insurgency in the zone.

He said the presidential election was conducted peacefully and prayed for peace to reign in the country, especially in the North East, where many lives and property were lost due to insurgency.

Dadum-Hamza further congratulated President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, for the victory.

Similarly, Alhaji Ahmed Abubakar, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Local Government in the state, advised candidates to accept the outcome Governorship and State Assembly elections.

“People should  remain calm and those who emerge victorious should celebrate it in an orderly manner; those who lose should accept it as the will of God.”
