Energy leaders converge in Lagos for OTL Africa Week

Top players across Africa’s petroleum, gas and energy value chain are gathering in Lagos from October 26 to 31 for the 19th edition of the OTL Africa Downstream Energy Week, a flagship platform driving policy dialogue, investment and innovation in the continent’s downstream sector.

In a statement by the Chief Executive Officer of OTL Downstream Development in Africa Ltd./Gte, Joyce Akabogu stated that the week-long programme will bring together operators, regulators, financiers and service providers for strategic discussions, exhibitions and networking aimed at advancing the growth and sustainability of Africa’s downstream energy industry.
Organised in collaboration with the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and other strategic partners, this year’s edition is themed “Energy Sustainability – Growth Beyond Boundaries and Competition.” It comes at a time of significant market shifts and increasing competition across the petroleum and energy landscape.

According to Akabogu, the 2025 edition will explore how key players can adapt to the rapidly evolving downstream sector, with more than 50 speakers expected to provide insights into market trends, investment opportunities, emerging technologies and corporate realignments.
The event will also feature ministerial and regulator panels from four West African countries, focusing on regional collaboration and policy alignment to strengthen cross-border energy trade.
Delegates and visitors will experience the OTL Trade Exhibition, which will showcase innovations and technologies across oil refining, petroleum trading, shipping, tank storage, logistics, marketing, retail, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), lubricants, petrochemicals, power, financial services and policy.

Additionally, the programme will feature exclusive tours of strategic production hubs, including the Dangote Refinery Complex, alongside networking receptions and social events designed to give both local and international participants a memorable experience of Lagos.
For nearly two decades, the OTL Africa Downstream Energy Week has been at the forefront of promoting business growth, collaboration and knowledge exchange in Africa’s downstream energy markets, establishing itself as the continent’s premier platform for industry engagement and innovation.

Meanwhile, Otunba Adetunji Oyebanji, Chairman of the OTL Africa Downstream Week Advisory Board, announced at a recent media parley that the event encompasses end-to-end operations and services, incorporating a strategic conference, showcase exhibition, and networking events.

Mr Oyebanji noted that over the last 19 years, the event has “set agenda for downstream sector development” not only in Nigeria but across the West Africa and the wider Africa region.

He explained that yearly, stakeholders attend from both far and near “to rub minds, interact and deepen relationships that drive business and the market as a whole.” Furthermore, he stated that policy and executive action equally rely on the event for “crucial insights on which to anchor their engagements with the industry.”
