Entrepreneur pioneers electric vehicles on Nigerian roads

Olubamidele

Picture Nigeria with clean, quiet streets filled with electric vehicles. Mr. Bunmi Felix Olubamidele, the driving force behind EV Planet Ltd, is turning this vision into a reality by tackling the biggest hurdle in Nigeria’s transportation system – carbon.

“We’re focusing on four main initiatives to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in Nigeria and West Africa,” Mr. Bunmi Felix Olubamidele explained. These initiatives include technician training, installing charging infrastructure, converting existing vehicles to electric, and offering affordable EVs.

One of the first steps is ensuring there are qualified technicians to maintain and repair EVs. In partnership with BZB Training Institute in China, EV Planet Ltd is training local talents to handle both new and used electric vehicles. “People need to know their cars will be in good hands, which is why this training is so crucial,” Olubamidele said.

To make owning an electric vehicle more practical, EV Planet Ltd is also rolling out Chargify, an initiative to install charging stations across Nigeria. “By placing these stations in convenient locations like malls and hotels, we’re giving people the confidence that they’ll always have somewhere to charge,” Olubamidele explained. This network will extend into other West African countries, fostering a broader adoption of EVs.

Mr. Bunmi Felix Olubamidele, who has made a name for himself with Affordable Lekki Homes Ltd and Dastic Homes Ltd in real estate, is now steering Nigeria towards a greener future with EV Planet Ltd. His dedication to sustainability is inspiring changes in both the real estate and EV sectors.

Converting existing vehicles to electric is another key focus, starting with buses and trucks. This strategy not only saves time and money but also makes the transition to electric mobility more feasible. “By converting these vehicles, we’re helping governments and organizations move to electric more quickly and affordably,” Olubamidele noted.

Making EVs accessible to everyone is also a priority. By partnering with brands in China, EV Planet Ltd offers a range of affordable and durable electric vehicles, all with a five-year warranty for free maintenance and repairs. “Our goal is to provide reliable EVs that anyone can afford,” he said.

EV Planet Ltd operates with both physical offices and an online platform, ensuring clients have easy access to their offerings. “From buying electric vehicles to enrolling in our EV technician training programme and accessing maintenance and repair services, our clients can do it all conveniently,” Olubamidele stated.

The company prides itself on its team of 10 direct employees and is focused on building a comprehensive support system for EV users. “We provide complete solutions, serving as a one-stop-shop for all EV and alternative energy needs,” he emphasized.

Olubamidele’s efforts are aimed at more than just selling vehicles; he is committed to a broader vision of sustainable transportation. “Our mission is to ensure a smooth transition to electric vehicles, and beneficial for all,” Olubamidele concluded.
