Euro 2024 winner to get £23.8 million prize

The winner of the ongoing Euro 2024 Championship will earn £23.8 million (N44.8 billion) from the total £278 million (N524.038 billion) prize money.

The £278 million (N524.038 billion) will be distributed among the 24 participating teams based on their performance throughout the tournament.

For participating in the tournament, each team will receive £7.8 million (N14.7 billion), totalling £189.7 million (N357.5 billion).

A team will get £800,000 (N1.5 billion) for every win in the group stage, while a draw will fetch the team £421,639 (N794.8 billion).

If a team qualifies for the round of 16, it will get £1.26 million (N2.3 billion), while advancing to the quarterfinal will earn the side £2.1 millon (N3.9 billion).

A semifinal berth is worth £3.3 million (N6.221 billion), losing finalist will earn £4.2 million (N7.9 billion), while the champion will get £6.7 million (N12.1 billion).

The Euro 2024 prize fund is 20 times more than Uefa’s prize fund for the women’s Euro 2022 tournament.

The money for the Euro 2024 prize fund comes from three major sources: media rights, global sponsorships and ticketing, hospitality and licensing.

The sale of media rights to broadcast matches live on television and other channels is expected to surpass Euro 2020’s £900 million, according to UEFA.

UEFA said it received more than 50 million ticket requests in the two application phases for Euro 2024, making the tournament the most in-demand European Championship of all time.
