Former House of Representative member, Ozurigbo Ugonna, has resigned his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Ugonna confirmed his exit from the main opposition party in a letter addressed to the ward chairman, Umuozu ward, Nwangele local government, Imo State.

“I have come to that decisive moment I had nevr wished, as I am constrained by circumstances defined by hard truths, incompatible differences with the PDP party,” he said in the letter.

“After due consultations with stakeholders I have resigned my membership of Peoples Democratic Party. Kindly accept my regards of highest esteem.”


Ugonna is the latest PDP chieftain from the south east to exit the party.

Last week, former Imo State governor Emeka Ihedioha announced his exit from the party after 26 years.


Ihedioha cited a variance of personal beliefs as part of his reason for leaving.

Also, the Zonal Publicity Secretary of PDP in the Southeast, Augustine Okeke, resigned from his position citing personal reasons.
