• Promises to make LASU first class graduates competitive globally
• Public office must be about improving people’s lives, Gbajabiamila states

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, yesterday, said that collaboration and synergy between the executive and the legislature are critical to the people benefitting from the dividends of democracy and impactful governance.

Sanwo-Olu, who stated this during the commissioning of projects facilitated by Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, said that governance is about touching the lives of the people.

The governor said that he was excited that his first official assignment for the year was the commissioning of the projects facilitated by Gbajabiamila, which include the Femi Gbajabiamila Conference Centre at Lagos State University (LASU), the dualised Babs Animashaun Road and Census Bridge, Sam Shonibare Community Development Centre and Femi Gbajabiamila General Hospital, Iyun Road.

Sanwo-Olu said that the state would be setting up a medical university to solve two strategic problems of training varied medical and health personnel, as well as halting medical tourism.

The governor, who promised that his administration would do everything to make LASU produce first class graduates to compete globally, commended Gbajabiamila for serving his constituency, state and the country well, describing the conference centre as a legacy project.

In his speech, Gbajabiamila urged those seeking public office to remember that the ultimate and highest legacy they could leave as public servants is improvement in the lives of the people they serve.

He also said that lawmakers must ensure that the resources of government go towards meeting the most pressing needs of the local constituencies.
