Expert implores govt on non-oil export

Aerial-view-of-Tin-Can-PortA STAKEHOLDER, Olufemi Boyede, has decried the over-dependency on oil revenue, calling on the Federal Government to key into other sectors of the economy, especially promotion of investments in the maritime industry with a view to boosting the country’s economic fortune.

Delivering a lecture at a workshop organised by the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) in Benin City with the theme: “Export Market Opportunities for Made-in-Nigeria Products,” Boyede, who is also the Managing Director of Icononic Ventures Nigeria, submitted that the nation could no longer depend on crude oil, which constitutes 90 per cent of the country’s exports.

Earlier, NEPC Benin Zonal Controller, Mrs. Uduak Etokowoh, said the workshop was organised to, among others, satisfy the yearnings of registered exporters who constantly seek the council’s intervention on linking their products to reputable markets.
