Team Locks Down Lagos With Road Show, Stunts

Action movie, Fast and Furious 10 is set for the cinema in Nigeria from Friday, May 19, 2023 amidst cheers.

In one of the best demonstrations to promote a movie, promoters of more than 20-year-old Fast & Furious franchise, on Sunday, May 14, 2023, locked down the road leading to Eko Hotel and Suites with an amazing display of bike and car races to create awareness for Fast X.

American actor and film producer, Vin Diesel and John Cena are among the stars featured as ‘Fast X’, the tenth movie of ‘Fast & Furious.


Another twist about the movie is the revelation by Vin Diesel that the upcoming Fast and Furious finale Fast X will be a trilogy.

In Nigeria, the roadshow put together by Silverbird Cinema with the support of other partners ahead of the premiere in Nigeria wowed spectators who could not imagine such a display behind the wheel could happen in Nigeria.

For hours, the organisers lock down the road with various stunts and amazing music performances.

Indeed, a mad road shows with a loud message to the world that Nigerians are not a pushback even on the road.

Speaking on the motivation for creating a road show for the movie, Manager, Silverbird Film Distribution which is the official distributor of Fastx in West Africa, Otega Uwagho, said: “We decided to do something from what people aren’t used to and since Fast and Furious involved amazing display and showcase brilliant car racing, we decided to introduce Cycler, bikers and cars that can add beauty to create awareness for the movie.

“People are waiting for the movie and we are expecting N1 billion from the box office for Fast X and we are doing everything we can to achieve the target; Fast X movie is 10/10. Fast X will do better than 9 and others before it. We have always surpassed our target; with John Wick, we did over 300 per cent target.

“Nigerians should expect something different, more stunts, new casts and watch out for it.


On the partnership, he said: “GAC saw what we are doing, they loved the idea and keyed into it.

Speaking on the reason for the partnership, Head, Brand and Marketing Communication, GAC Auto, Franklin Okotie, said: “Fast 10 is about fast-driving cars and coincidentally, we just launched GAC j7 which is a fast-driving car and it’s fit for the movie.

“For us, it’s of two things; the roadshow and the brand affiliation and, the roadshow is an opportunity for us,

Also speaking on the partnership for the show, Marketing Manager, Infinix Nigeria, Opeyemi Adewunmi, said: “I have been following the movie for a few years now and I believe that this movie will go all around Nigeria.

“The most interesting thing to me about this movie is the speed of the cars moving and trying to cross together as a team.

Also speaking, Assistant Brand Manager, Fearless Energy Drink, Kanyinsola Sangowawa, said: “Fast X is a fearless experience, it takes a fearless person to make crazy moves and that is why we decided to sponsor it because there is a synergy between the action in the movie and our brand.

“This movie is 100 per cent amazing. I have been following and it’s been cool all the while. This is growing to be amazing.
