President, Rotary Club of Okota, Kingsley Chijioke, has promised that the Physics laboratory at Ijeshatedo Grammar School will be refurbished, just as the school will be given computer sets and accessories. He said these are part of his tenure’s star project in the 2025-2026 calendar year.
He said this at his investiture as the 39th President of the club, committing also to executing projects and programmes in the seven areas of focus of Rotary International, which include Basic Education and Literacy, Maternal and child health, Peace and conflict prevention/Resolution, Disease prevention and treatment, among others.
Chijioke also disclosed that under the maternal and child health project, the club has already presented kits to pregnant women, mosquito nets to nursing mothers, among others. He added that the club sponsored ten youths to the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), spending N50,000 each per participant, including supporting them morally, with kits, t-shirts for the one-week event.
He listed other commitments to members donating 100 dollars each to the Rotary Foundation, supporting the District Educational and Welfare Endowment Fund (DEWEF), increasing membership from 42 to 50 and assisting in polio eradication. At the ceremony, 13 people were given awards.
The Assistant Governor, Francis Opute, who represented the District Governor, District 9111, Prince Akinyele, advised Chijioke to do things the Rotary way and observe the 4-Way Test.
The immediate Past President, Nofiu Okunade, who carried out a number of projects during his tenure, including the back-to-school project, promised to continue to support the new president as the Service Project Chairman.
