A 21-year-old corps member serving with Taraba State University, Judith Tsaaior, has emerged the winner of the 11th edition of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Essay Competition organised by the African Biblical Leadership Initiative (ABLI).

Tsaaior, who hails from Benue State, is a graduate of English and Literary Studies from Veritas University, Abuja.

The General Secretary of the Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN), Pastor Samuel Sanusi, disclosed this at the National Symposium in Abuja. He stated that about 200 corps members participated in the essay competition with the topic “Raising a New Generation of Transformational Leaders” in June 2024.

Sanusi noted that the competition has been in existence for over 12 years, adding that the BSN had invested about N10 million in it.

He explained that the six finalists were shortlisted from the 200 entries to defend their essays, stressing that the criteria included spoken English, level of exposure, comportment, and the ability to explain the topic in detail.

He announced that Tsaaior scored 172.5 percent and received N400,000, a Holy Bible, management books, and a scholarship. Davina Williams, who is serving in Rivers State, came second with a score of 172 and received N300,000, a Holy Bible, management books, and a scholarship.
