Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, yesterday, reiterated his administration’s commitment to repositioning the education sector of the state, describing it as the most critical pillar of human development and progress.
Aiyedatiwa, while describing education as the light that guides the path to progress, said that it remains the only tool that shapes people and the bridge between dreams and realisation.
The governor stated this during the inauguration of the newly appointed members of the Ondo State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) held at the Cocoa Conference Centre, Governor’s Office, Akure, the state capital. He emphasised that the event marked another milestone in the state’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the foundation of education, saying that the move reflected his administration’s dedication to entrusting responsibility to capable hands.
The governor added that the appointments were based on integrity, competence and a proven record of service, stressing that the state government was confident in their capacity to make a difference.
Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr Taiwo Fasoranti, commended the governor for his deep understanding of the place of the state in Nigeria’s education system, noting that the state had maintained a national reputation for excellence.
However, the newly inaugurated TESCOM Chairman, Dr Oluwadaisi Idowu Oke, stated: “This appointment, I know, is based on experience, discipline and education. And I want to plead before others that this trust bestowed on us, we will work to justify it.”
Meanwhile, Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Idowu Ajanaku, has said that Ondo State is fast shedding its old image as a civil service-dominated economy and emerging as one of Nigeria’s most promising business and investment destinations, thanks to the proactive reforms of the administration of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
Ajanaku made this known in Akure while highlighting the government’s multi-sectoral efforts aimed at transforming the state into a vibrant economic hub through the Our Ease Agenda.
He said that the state’s transformation is being anchored on strategic investments in infrastructure, power, agriculture, tourism, and revenue generation, all of which are repositioning Ondo State for sustainable growth and investor confidence.
