To prepare students for the future, the Rotary Club of Okota has trained students of both Ijeshatedo Junior and Senior Grammar School, Lagos, on cyberbullying and online safety.
Speaking at the seminar, themed: ‘Basic education and literacy project,’ the President of the Rotary Club of Okota, Kingsley Chijioke, said the programme was aimed at inspiring the students and supporting their teachers as they resumed from the holidays.
“We are committed to impacting students within our community by focusing on improving access to quality education through various initiatives, like what we have done.
Director and Principal of Ijeshatedo Junior School, Alabi Ibikunle, said the school would build on what the club has impacted in the students by equipping the information and communication technology (ICT) office within the school.
The Principal, Ijeshatedo Senior Grammar School, Kayode Ogunsanya, also commended the club for its support to the school.
Assistant Deputy Director, Account and Finance, Lagos State Local Government Service Commission, Ikeja, Dr Abidemi Dosumu, who was the guest speaker, said the programme would help prepare students for their future encounter with technology on how to avert inherent dangers.
Assistant Governor, Rotary International, District 9111, Francis Okpute, who presided over the event, expressed satisfaction with the success of the programme.
