The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) has said that training and retraining are good for the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) initiative in the country.

NADDC noted that the CNG training is aimed at ensuring capacity building and skills upgrades for technicians and youths to enable them to cope in the dynamic automotive industry.

The Director-General, National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, disclosed this at the opening ceremony of a collaboration between NADDC and Lanre Shittu Motors on CNG skills development at Ado- Ekiti, Ekiti State.

Explaining further, the NADDC boss said the council has converted some of its vehicles to CNG usage; some locally assembled gas- powered Vehicles have been procured as well as engaging World Class original equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to ensure that the best conversion solution is introduced in the country.

He said the council has created a CNG conversion portal for the registration, accreditation and licensing of workshops in Nigeria.
The Commissioner of Infrastructure and Public Utility, Prof Mobolaji Aluko, represented the State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji at the event.

The officials from Lanre Shittu Motors, Jamiu Akinyemi and Segun Aaron Akande gave the brief of the training.
Akinyemi encouraged youths to take the rare opportunity and maximize it.

They should use the specialised toolbox judiciously, he said that the CNG does not kill, and it keeps the environment clean.

The DG encouraged the stakeholders to continue to partner with the Council to give the auto industry a well-deserved place globally.
