Firm adds new directors to accelerate growth, healthcare

FIDSON

Nigeria’s leading pharmaceutical company, Fidson Healthcare Plc, has appointed three new directors to its board to enhance governance and accelerate growth.

The company made the announcement in a press release following a Board meeting held in December 2024, which resulted in the appointment of Dr. Babatunde Kabir Ipaye, Mr. Philip Ikechi Ejiofor, and Mr. Oshoke Michael Ayebae, effective from January 1, 2025.

Fidson stated that the appointments reflect the company’s commitment to driving sustainable growth and expanding its business through the expertise of seasoned professionals.

Fidson Ipaye joins the Board as an Independent Non-Executive Director, bringing over 20 years of experience in leadership, policy development, and health systems reform.

He highlighted Ipaye’s notable contributions to public health initiatives, including malaria, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, and COVID-19 programs. It noted that his previous roles, such as Commissioner for Health in Ogun State and Consultant Health Specialist with the World Bank, would significantly strengthen the company’s strategic focus on healthcare delivery.

In addition, Ejiofor has been appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director. The company emphasized Ejiofor’s extensive experience as a chartered accountant, with over 30 years in senior management roles spanning finance, logistics, supply chain, and information technology.

His international experience in multinational organizations, particularly in Nigeria and Rwanda, was described as an asset for Fidson’s strategic financial planning and operational efficiency.

Ayebae, the third appointee, has been named Executive Director for Business Development and Marketing. Fidson explained that Ayebae’s long tenure at the company since 2011 has been instrumental in driving growth, particularly through his leadership in creating the company’s herbal and nutraceutical division and his role in developing over 40 profitable products.

They pointed to his educational background in marketing, business management, and project management as key to his success in rebranding Fidson’s product portfolio and boosting the company’s visibility.

Fidson’s Chairman, Olusegun Adebanji, expressed his enthusiasm about the new appointments.

“We are pleased to welcome these accomplished professionals to the board. Their wealth of experience and strategic insights will strengthen our board’s capacity to deliver on our mission,” he said.

He concluded that through addition of the new directors, Fidson demonstrates dedication to advancing healthcare in Africa and pursuing sustainable growth through the leadership of its experienced board members.
