Govt to convert Adamawa hospitals to federal medical centres


The Federal Government and Adamawa State Government have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the conversion of Cottage Hospital, Hong and General Hospital Mubi into Federal Medical Centres.

Speaking at the signing of the documents, the Minister for Health & Social Welfare, Prof Ali Pate, stated that the agreement signified a deliberate initiative of the ministry to improve and expand healthcare services for all Nigerians.

Pate, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Daju Kachollom, noted that the upgrade is critical to strengthening health services across the country. The minister stated that the conversion of the facility to federal institutions will enhance the health of the citizens in line with the mandate of the ministry to provide quality and safe health care services.

Earlier, the Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Prof Kaletapwa Farauta, who chaired the official handover and signed the agreement, commended the Federal Government for its foresight to upgrade the state’s health facilities.

She observed that the agreement is strategic to improving and providing quality health services to the Adamawa citizens, stressing that the initiative aligns with the state government’s priority on the health sector.

She restated the commitment of the state government to providing requisite support to enable the health institutions to thrive.

The State’s Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Felix Tangwami, appreciated the efforts of the Federal Government to enhance health care provision in Adamawa State.
