Wife of the Abia State Governor, Priscilla Otti, has emphasised the need for sustainable energy solutions to ensure a steady power supply in healthcare facilities and strengthen primary healthcare delivery.
Speaking in Arochukwu while commissioning a two-kilowatt solar power facility at the Amuvi Primary Health Centre, a project implemented under the Safe Tent Care Initiative in collaboration with her office and sponsored by the Rachisols Foundation, Otti said uninterrupted electricity is crucial for effective healthcare.
According to her, reliable power enables medical equipment to function optimally, preserves vaccines and essential medicines at the right temperature, and improves overall service delivery.
“This solar installation is more than just light; it is a pathway to health and healing for our people,” she said, reaffirming her commitment to partner with government agencies, the private sector, NGOs and other stakeholders to support her husband’s mission of delivering impactful governance across all sectors.
She commended TUDO Energy, the solar installer, and the Rachisols Foundation, describing the intervention as a significant boost to Abia’s healthcare system.
State’s Commissioner for Health, Prof. Enoch Uche, praised Mrs Otti’s leadership in championing solutions for the vulnerable and complementing government efforts to provide alternative power to primary health centres.
UNICEF Chief of Field Office, Enugu, Mrs Juliet Chiluwe, applauded the state government for prioritising healthcare and pledged continued support for the sustainable management of health facilities, reaffirming UNICEF’s commitment to ensuring access to quality healthcare for all.
In their remarks, CEO of TUDO Energy, Mr Toye Dudu, and Rachisols Foundation representative, Mrs Sybiath Ajao, said their partnership was reserved for administrations with a proven commitment to good governance, pledging to maintain the collaboration with the Alex Otti administration to deliver more impactful projects.
