Justice Maha Evelyn of the Federal High Court, Ibadan, has ordered the University of Ibadan (UI) and its agents to reopen the master’s degree student portal of Mr Kayode Bello and include his name in the convocation list of the University.
The Judge also ordered the University’s Vice Chancellor, the Registrar, Provost, Post Graduate College, Head of the Information and Communication Technology, Mr Abiodun Ajayi; Head of the Information and Communication Technology Unit, Post Graduate College and the Head, Department of Communication and Language Arts to allow the applicant access to his portal for payment of school fees.
The applicant wants to pay fees for registration and graduation, but claimed the respondents denied him access. Mr Bello had challenged the “illegal closure” of his master’s degree student portal without any reason since 2012. He was admitted in 2020 at the University of Ibadan to study for a master’s degree in Communication and Language Arts (CLA).
In 2024, the Senate of the University of Ibadan approved his result for graduation, but Prof Ayo Ogunjuyigbe, the Provost of the Post Graduate College, allegedly removed his name from the graduation list without any authorisation, prompting him to file the action.
