The Ogun State Government has reiterated its commitment towards implementing the Strategic Transportation Master Plan, to enhance road transport safety, reliability, accessibility, and sustainability for residents, visitors and businesses in the state.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Olugbenga Dairo, who gave the assurance during the election and inauguration of new executives of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), at Obantoko, Abeokuta, encouraged the union to support Governor Dapo Abiodun’s led administration by implementing the master plan.

Represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transportation, Olufodun Moibi, Dairo, who charged the new executives to prioritise decency, dedication, transparency, and unity in leadership, emphasised that there are responsibilities that come with leadership position; hence all hands must be on deck to move the association forward.

“Leadership is a call to service, and I commend you all for stepping forward to serve the members of this esteemed association. As you assume office, I urge you to lead with decency, dedication, transparency, and unity,” Dairo stated.

In his address, the National President of RTEAN, Dr Muhammad Musa, who traced the origin of RTEAN to 1933 when it was then called Nigeria Motor Transport Union in 1933, said its objectives include organising and maintaining orderly vehicle loading, ensuring passengers’ safety in motor parks and on the roads and fostering a peaceful transport environment.

He commended the union members for their cooperation in the electoral processes, stressing that unity remains crucial for progress and stability within the association. The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of certificates to the re-elected State RTEAN Chairman, Titilayo Akibu, alongside 18 other executive members.
