Fenerbahçe fans have produced a graffiti mural of Bright Osayi-Samuel punching a pitch invader while defending his Fenerbahce teammates after Sunday’s away game against Trabzonspor.
Fenerbahce defeated Trabzonspor 3-2 but were confronted by angry Trabzonspor fans who flocked onto the pitch.
Tensions started to mount in the 87th minute when objects were thrown onto the field after former Chelsea forward Michy Batshuayi scored the winning goal for visiting side Fenerbahce.
At the end of the game, Fenerbahce’s players gathered in the centre circle to celebrate which infuriated Trabzonspor fans.
As more fans ran onto the pitch, there were violent scenes with security staff struggling to restore order.
Osayi-Samuel was forced to confront one of the pitch invaders who was advancing towards the centre circle where the Fenerbahce players assembled.
Footage showed the AFCON 2023 silver medal winner pursuing the fan before delivering a punch to the face, leaving the masked supporter flat on the turf.
He was eventually held back by security operatives from delivering more punches to the invader as Fenerbahce players were led out of the pitch.
Following his heroics, a graffiti mural has been made by Fenerbahce fans.
The mural has the inscription ‘Fight like your fans’.
Meanwhile, Osayi-Samuel is expected to be in action for the Super Eagles in their two international friendly games against Ghana and Mali.
