FG pledges to support, nurture tourism in Badagry

The Federal Government, yesterday, reiterated its commitment to supporting and nurturing tourism in Badagry and beyond.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Minister of Tourism, Lola Ade-John, gave the assurance during her courtesy visit to the palace of the Akran of Badagry, Aholu Menu Toyi 1, which was facilitated by Sesi Whingah, the lawmaker representing Badagry Constituency in the House of Representatives.


According to the minister, through collaboration and cooperation, Badagry’s full potential can be fully unlocked, empowering local communities, preserving cultural heritage and promoting sustainable tourism practices.

Ade-John said her visit was to showcase Badagry’s tourism potential and to also foster partnerships between the Federal Ministry of Tourism and stakeholders in this region.

She urged community leaders and residents to engage in community-based activities to attract tourists to the town.

Whingah said there was no way one could talk about Nigeria’s history without mentioning Badagry.

The lawmaker said that he facilitated the coming of the minister and other stakeholders to Badagry to show them what they had in the town.

The Akran of Badagry, who welcomed the minister to his palace, and prayed that God would continue to give President Bola Tinubu wisdom and knowledge to rule the country, urged the minister to help in developing Badagry’s tourism potential.
