Acting Head of Federal Civil Service, Mrs Folashade Yemi Esan, at the State House, Abuja.

The approval of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021–2025 (FCSSIP25) by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) is expected to save over N120 billion from cleaning human resources data on the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS).

The Head of Service (HOS) of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan disclosed this, in a keynote address at the 43rd meeting of the National Council on Establishment that was held in Abuja recently.

The approval will also encourage savings of another N4.5 billion yearly from digitising content in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) that will result in improved content sharing.

The FCSSIP25 was approved by the FEC on December 15, 2021. The HOS said other benefits of the FCSSIP25 include, the proposed training of 64,000 civil servants through revamped core modules of SMAT-P, which will enhance skills and competencies; development of 500 civil servants as future leaders through LEAD-P and institutionalised performance management system in 42 ministries and extra-ministerial departments.

Yemi-Easan stressed that the aforementioned initiatives of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration, through the office of the Head of Service of the Federation, are targeted at reinvigorating the service, improving the welfare of civil servants, providing the enabling environment to operate maximally and delivering the much-needed services to Nigerians for economic recovery from COVID-19 and accelerating national development.

Declaring the meeting open, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mohammed Bello, reminded participants that the civil service of any nation plays a key role in the success of governments and their policies.
