Fire guts section of LASUTH

Men of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service combating the outbreak.

There was a fire outbreak in a section of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital on Thursday.

LASUTH disclosed on its X handle that the fire started at the Information and Communications Technology Unit at about 2:00 pm on Thursday, April 4, 2024.

It was eventually put out by personnel of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.

Margaret Adeseye, Director of the service, said the prompt action from the Ikeja Station saved the situation.


She said an emergency alert was received at 02:22 pm on Thursday, prompting an immediate response from the service.

Adeseye revealed that it was successfully extinguished without any casualties.

Meanwhile, she said an investigation into the cause of the incident is ongoing.

In May, 2023, a similar incident also occurred within the premises of LASUTH)

It was reported that the incident, happened at food shops in the premises around 4.00 p.m., causing panic in the health facility.

Food shops and Works Department were affected by the fire, however prompt arrival of the Fire Service assisted to reduce the impact of the incident.
