In an interview with Billboard, Nigerian singer Adedamola Adefolahan known as Fireboy DML revealed his experience collaborating and connecting with pop icon Madonna.
Fireboy, known for his acclaimed Afrobeat sound, described how it all began with a direct message from the Queen of Pop herself.
“Madonna sent me a DM on Instagram,” he recalled. “She told me she was a fan and loved the most unlikely song on my debut album. She’s so weird and funny. I just love her.”
Their collaboration on a remix of Madonna’s 1998 hit “Frozen” in 2022 further solidified their connection.
Fireboy expressed immense respect for Madonna, stating, “Having a song with Madonna is really something to be proud of because that’s the Queen of Pop.”
However, the collaboration extended beyond the studio, as Fireboy revealed another unexpected turn of events.
“I went out on a date with Madonna,” he shared, “and I would say that was probably the most memorable day of my life. It was an experience.”
Fireboy revealed that he would be releasing an album this year and is currently recording at Los Angeles. He also announced that he would be making his acting debut in a movie this year as well.
