The Chairman, Food Concept PLC, Mr. Ayo Olagundoye, has announced the promotion of Mr. Kofi Abunu, as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company.
Abunu will succeed Mr. David Butler, who will step down following expiration of his contract employment on March 7 2022, having led the organisation since 2014.
Abunu joined the organisation in 2007, and since 2017 has served as Divisional Managing Director (Business Development).
According to Olagundoye, “Abunu’s appointment came following a rigorous and structured process that lasted for over 12-month. The Company has been in a very fortunate position to have a great pool of talent; hence the appointment falls in line with the its deep commitment to developing and producing talent from within. This appointment from within, reflects our commitment to human resource development.”
Olagundoye added that Abunu has over 28 years’ experience in the food and hospitality industry and a diploma in hotel management. He also has a BA (Hon) International Business and Marketing from University of London and CIMA UK. He previously worked at McDonald’s (UK), Nandos, Innscor/Famous Brands (Steers and Debonairs).

The company also announced the appointments of Mrs. Anthonia Agbonifo, currently an executive director as Executive Director (International Finance & Shared Services). Her portfolio will include overseeing domestic and International financing, as well as leading the Shared Services team. Mr. Ikenna Okongwu, currently Divisional Managing Director (Operations) has also been appointed as an Executive Director and will join the Board of Directors, effective 7 March 7, 2022.
