Folasade Balogun: An Icon of simplicity, humility, elegance

Folasade Balogun

In the golden years of Nigeria, the country has consistently produced exceptional women who are not just only great role models but also astute professionals in different fields of endeavour.

Names like Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, late Prof. Dora Akunyili, the current Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, readily come to mind when you think about Nigerian amazons.

Another of such virtuous women is the elegant and illustrious Folasade Balogun (formerly Folasade Gbadamosi), the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Red Brick Homes International Limited.

Born in April 1967, to the late Professor Bola Olujide Balogun, Folasade Balogun has grown to become a renowned top female player, who has distinguished herself in the Nigerian real estate sector.

A woman of class and God-fearing, Madam Amen, as she’s fondly called, is a great mother to both her biological children and the numerous staff working with her. She is a very successful businesswoman, having single-handedly built the Amen Estates Group from the scratch. She’s also an epitome of what a perfect wife and mother should be.

Folasade started her educational journey at Staff School, Ile-Ife, Osun State, in 1972. She then proceeded to Our Lady’s Girls High School for her secondary school education, still at Ile-Ife.

Thereafter, she proceeded to the Oyo State College of Arts and Science, Ile-Ife, before going to the prestigious University of Ife, where she bagged a B.A. Hons in the English Language.

Just like the scriptures asks, “A virtuous woman, who can find? Her price is far above that of pearls and rubies.” Folasade embodies the art of achieving colossal feats in complete quietness and stealth-like mode.

An entirely reserved and easy-going woman, she would rather keep herself behind the scenes always while she continues breaking grounds and conquering new frontiers. If the saying, ‘Drink water and mind your business’ were ever to have an ambassador, Folasade would quite seamlessly slot into the role with remarkable perfection.

Folasade, who currently resides in Lagos, is married with children.  Before moving back to Nigeria and establishing Red Brick Homes International Limited, she spent almost a decade as Managing Director of Esstech Limited and Esstech College in London, the Great Britain. This was from 1998 till 2007 precisely.

During her time in the company, she constantly engaged with the public sector in ways that would benefit the company. “We were able to access various types of funding, which included special EU funding for the provision of training and skills. We were also able to establish and develop contacts with the Learning and Skills Council, such that we were chosen as one of the pilot centres for the Learn Direct programme in South London,” Folasade quipped.

Esstech College’s profits were used to build up a small portfolio of property, consisting of residential and commercial units dotted around the South East of London. Armed with this experience, she decided to bring her wealth of skills and exposure to bear on the Nigerian real estate domain.

In 2003, she founded Redbrick Homes International Limited and remains the Chairman/CEO to date. The company is the sole owner, developer, and promoter of Amen Estates situated along Eleko Beach Road, Ibeju-Lekki LGA, Lagos State, Nigeria.

According to her, having had a good experience of the buy-to-let and new-build property markets in the UK, it was simply a matter of time, that she would engage heavily in the Nigerian real estate market, which appeared to be crying out for quality, saying that she bought a few parcels of land, all in the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area of Lagos, and embarked on her first project at the current site of Amen Estate, Eleko.

The rest, as the saying goes, is history. Amen Estates is presently one of the most premium and highly coveted real estate projects in Nigeria. The luxurious, classy, and elegant estate is currently home to many of Nigeria’s topmost citizens, film and music celebrities, sports superstars, and some foreign dignitaries and expatriates.

Without a doubt, it is one of the best real estate institutions in these parts of the world. For almost two decades now, the estate has become renowned not just for its luxury and serene environment but also for the safety it offers to existing and new occupants and investors. Buying land or homes in Amen Estates comes with a guarantee of peace, security, and unwavering assurance that your investment and assets are always fully secure.

Some of Folasade’s skills and endorsement includes proven proficiencies in Real Estate, Real Estate Development, Investment Properties, Property Management, Real Estate Transactions, and Feasibility Studies.
