The Anglican heritage has once again resonated at a four-day retreat organised by the Diocesan Bishop of the Diocese of Warri, Church of Nigerian (Anglican Communion), Right Reverend Christian E. Ide for the clergy serving in the Diocese.

Reminding participants that Anglican heritage is anchored on the scripture, as well as the tradition of the Church and the teachings of the apostolic fathers, the organiser said that the responsibilities of the Anglican priest is scripturally rooted on the Canons of the Church and therefore, the clergy must consistently act in conformity with the norms, tenets/principles of the communion and sincerely adhere to their oath of ordination.

Speaking on the theme: “The 21st Century Priest and Our Anglican Heritage,” Bishop Ide stressed that the Anglican priest must conscientiously maintain the ancient landmark as enshrined in the Holy writ, noting that the clergy should within his Episcopal See be faithful and live in conformity with the doctrines of the Church, scriptural principles and Apostolic teachings.

Exhorting the participants, Ide who cited 1Peter 2:9, said that the Anglican priests are chosen people, royal priesthood, and a holy nation, who belong to God and must live and walk in the fear of God, which is the new birth required from them for proper action.

The Easter retreat held at the Ibru International Ecumenical Centre, Agbarha-Otor, Delta State from April 11 to 14, 2023.
