Foundation donates 2,000 food packs to less privileged in Kaduna

Fidelity Bank, in partnership with the Abbasid Foundation, has donated 2,000 packs of food to needy individuals within the Kaduna North senatorial zone through its Food Bank Initiative.

Residents, consisting of aged men, women, and nursing mothers expressed their gratitude upon receiving the packages, as they said the items came at a time that they struggle to feed themselves.

The beneficiaries are from Kwaru, Malali, Angwan-Kanawa, Angwan-Sarki, Badarawa, and Kawo communities of Kaduna North. The distributed packages contained rice, gari, and noodles, among others.

At the Fidelity Food Bank Event, Sadi Zawiya, Regional Bank Head of Fidelity Bank, highlighted the bank’s commitment to partnering with several organizations to regularly provide food and other sorts of assistance to those in need.

He emphasized that addressing the fundamental issues of poverty and hunger can make a lasting difference in the lives of many Nigerians. Zawiya noted that the food items were distributed through the Fidelity Food Bank initiative.

Zawiya was also of the view that “by investing in the well-being of these communities, we can help build a brighter future for all.”

He described the initiative as a cornerstone of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, particularly in the areas of health and social welfare.

“We understand that access to basic necessities, such as food, is essential for individuals to thrive and reach their full potential. The introduction of the Fidelity Food Bank initiative reflects our dedication to eradicating hunger in underserved communities throughout Nigeria.”

Speaking to journalists during the distribution exercise, Victoria Abuka, Team Lead for Fidelity Bank CSR, mentioned that they have 19 partners across the country that distribute 10,000 packs of food to the poor on a monthly basis. “Our partners identify the needy communities where we distribute the items,” Abuka added.

The Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Hajiya Hadiza Balarabe, commended the initiative and urged other well-to-do Nigerians to emulate it by supporting the less privileged and vulnerable. She acknowledged the country’s current hardships and reassured that the Uba Sani administration is working tirelessly to support the needy.
