Foundation empowers over 100 women

Ogo Oluwa Women and Girl Child Foundation

A non-governmental organisation, Ogo Oluwa Women and Girl Child Foundation has empowered over 100 beneficiaries through its skill acquisition, financial education, and microcredit programmes in a bid to uplift women and create economic opportunities.

The founder and the director of the foundation, Oki Mosunmola, said this during a learning and review meeting with the beneficiaries, noting that the main aim of the foundation was skill acquisition empowerment, financial education and microcredit without interest.

According to her, the foundation, which started with just 10 girls in 2020, has witnessed remarkable growth now with over 100 women beneficiaries.

“We empower them with working instruments, financial assistance and now everyone is bosses on their own,” she said.

Mosunmola revealed plans to establish a vocational centre to further empower women.

According to her, the impact of the foundation goes beyond individual beneficiaries, adding
“When you train and empower a woman, you train and empower the whole world.”
One of the beneficiaries, Taiwo Ogunyemi, highlighted the impact of the foundation’s teachings on business plans, skill acquisition, and interest-free financial assistance.

“I’m very happy to be part of this foundation, they have taught us business plans, and skill acquisition, and also loaned us money to run our business without interest,” she said.

Another beneficiary, Fatima Busayo, echoed similar sentiments, emphasising the foundation’s unique approach to financial assistance.

“Financially, they have been helping the poor who don’t have any money to start a business, and also they have helped with skills as well. Here, we pay money back with ease and no interest,” she added.
