The founder, QAT Foundation, Queen Adenike Tejuosho, has explained why her Non-Governmental Organisation feted over 1,000 vulnerable children and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Abuja.

Speaking while celebrating with the less privileged children and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at the IDP Camp, Kaura District in the nation’s capital, she said the event was aimed at alleviating the hunger and suffering of vulnerable people in the community, giving them a sense of belonging and ensuring that no child goes hungry.

She said this is in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

Some of the gift items donated to the children and IDPs included school bags, books, food items as well as relief materials.

She called on Nigerians to put smiles on the faces of the vulnerable in the society.

Queen Tejuosho said the event is organised yearly, adding that last year’s celebration was held at Durumi IDP Camp.

The Founder also tasked government to equip the parents of vulnerable children with skills to enable them cater for their families rather than rely on handouts.

“When they are empowered and they learn skills, especially their parents, they will be able to cater for their children. And also, there are loads of scholarships for the children. When they go to school, five years to come you won’t find them here because life will change for them,” she said.

Also speaking, the National Coordinator, Tinubu National Think tank, Ambassador Adewale Adeogon, underscored the need for well-meaning Nigerians to celebrate with the less privileged.

He was upbeat that some of the policies initiated by the present administration will reduce the out-of-school children menace in the country.
