Foundation fetes indigents, elderly in Oworonshoki

Dave Care and Shelter Foundation has donated items, including food, beverages, and toiletries to indigents and the elderly in the Oworonshoki area of Lagos State.

The event, designed to mark the birthday of the founder of Dave Care and Shelter Foundation, Dave Olusegun, was attended by royal fathers, including the Oloworo of Oworonshoki, Oba Babatunde Saliu, who was the royal host; Oloshoroko of Oshoroko Kingdom, Oba Olusegun Oyiri; and the Alaketu of Ketu Land, Oba Sikiru Oyero.

The celebrant, who is the Onigegewura of Oworonshoki Kingdom, expressed satisfaction that he was marking the day by extending support to the needy.

He said such a gesture was more significant to him than convening with affluent friends.

He urged privileged Nigerians to recognise the importance of giving back to society, saying even the smallest contributions have the power to bring smiles and relief to the less privileged.

Olusegun said establishment of the Dave Care and Shelter Foundation stemmed from the encouragement he received from friends to formalise his philanthropic endeavours.

He said: “In its second year, the foundation has been steadfast in reaching out to the less privileged and positively impacting lives.

“Everyone needs some form of help, but in my opinion, those with the most need are the elderly and indigent youths, who are there through no fault of theirs. That’s why I chose to spend my birthday with them.”

Expressing her gratitude on behalf of the over 200 beneficiaries, Chairman of Progressive Widows Association, Oworonshoki, Mrs Edu, commended Olusegun’s compassion and dedication to humanity.
