Foundation seeks end to class gap in Nigeria

A non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Ebele and Anyi Chuks Foundation, has pledged to bridge the gap between the rich and poor in Nigeria through its humanitarian initiatives.

Founder of the NGO, Dr. Ifeanyichukwu Odii, made the disclosure at Isu, Onicha Council of Ebonyi State when the foundation distributed food items, cash and other materials to the people of the area. He said there was a huge gap between the rich and the poor, which had created inequality and discontent among the people.

He said in its quest to bridge the gap, the foundation had been assisting the needy and empowering people for over 15 years, stressing that he was motivated by God’s selflessness in sacrificing his only son to save mankind.

“We have built 77 houses for indigent persons, six churches and a palace for the tradition ruler of the area. We added another 23 houses to the 77 houses and they would soon be handed over to the beneficiaries.

“This will make the beneficiaries’ children to appreciate God’s kindness to them and make them offer nothing less when they want to assist others.  Nigerians always offer leftovers to others, but at the foundation, we give selflessly with the fear of God,” he stated.

He said Ebele and Anyi Chuks Foundation’s activities do not have political undertones as the United Nations has always identified with its ideals.

“Everyone cannot be in politics and there would be people who operate at the home front to organise things. We pray for God’s continuous guidance and capacity to impact positively on the society and once such grace continues, our efforts would be relentless,” he added.

Odii also pointed out that the foundation’s activities extend beyond Ebonyi and Nigeria, noting that it had empowered people with packages and scholarships, among others.

“We constructed over 2.2km of asphalted road with drainages at Magodo Estate in Lagos, while distributing COVID-19 palliatives to people in 11 states of the country,” he said.

Earlier, the foundation’s Coordinator in Ebonyi State, Christian Onu, said the staff members were motivated by the zeal Odii and his wife had demonstrated over the initiatives.
