Four armed robbery suspects nabbed in Lagos


Operatives of Lagos State Police Command have arrested four armed robbery suspects in the Ikorodu area of the state. Spokesperson for the Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this in a statement yesterday.


He said a resident in the area came to the station last year on October 10, 2023 and reported that he was robbed at Igbolomu in Ikorodu area of Lagos by a gang of armed robbers who pointed gun at him and collected gold chain, pendant and hand chain valued N3,429,350 alongside his Samsung Galaxy S12 mobile phone valued N280,000, two scalers valued N24,000, a power bank and cash sum of $200.

According to him, two of the suspects were tracked and arrested at Igbolomu area of Ikorodu last week. He said: “Based on their confession, on April 1, 32-year-old Oluwatimilenyi Sunday, a driver working with a newspaper but claims to be a Photographer/Director of Production was arrested in his house.

“Sunday confessed to having participated in the robbery attack on the complainant and that they sold the gold at the rate of N2.2 million out of which he got N400.000 as his share.

“He said further that the gun used is presently in possession of one Alhaji who he claimed is presently in correctional custody over another offence.

“All the suspects confessed to the crime and are presently helping the police in further investigation.

“Others earlier arrested are 24-year-old Chikwendu Jerry, who is the gang leader and 38-year-old Stanley Ayukor.”
