Gabriel Amos

Nigerian gospel singer and producer, Gabriel Imeh Amos, popularly known as Gabriel Amos, has explained how he started his music ministry during his undergraduate days at the prestigious University of Lagos (UNILAG).

Born on 27th June 1988, Gabriel Amos studied philosophy at UNILAG. The 35-year-old, who hails from from Nsit Ubium Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, had passion for music growing up in church. He manifested God’s talent upon his life in his teenage years in the choir at Omega Fire Ministry. It was at that point he got literally commissioned for the assignment.

Gabriel Amos spent part of his growing up years in Lagos and upon securing admission into tertiary institution, he began his ‘ministry’. Grace was explicitly working in him to combine academics with pursuing a greater purpose. He recorded his first song on campus, before which he had founded a music group known as Tufellaz in 2010.

Gabriel Amos revealed that under his stage name, Sikedi, he recorded his first official song titled, “Just Dance”, produced by renowned music producer, Samklef. For his second song, he collaborated with Muno–an artiste signed by Peter Okoye (Rude Boy). The track was produced by Menthor. He attained a milestone as a student and spotlight. Sikedi stuck with him as an identity and gospel musician, through which the song gained popularity in the campus community.

Gabriel Amos said he started to lean towards music production, unconsciously. It is hard to tell where apart from singing, the thirst to produce his own sound and for others, originated from. He clearly understood the power of music and how it gets to the new generation of worshippers. He delved into producing beats and before long, he was praised for his skills and earned acclaimed Sikedi Beatz.

Grace multiplied on Gabriel Amos afterwards. His gifted hands further opened up the abundance of talent in one man. He simply entered the realm of multidynamism the world had never seen with him before. As a producer, he has worked with various artistes and even produced an unreleased track for popular Nigerian singer, Vector Tha Viper, titled “Show Me How to Dance.” In 2018, Sikedi Beatz signed with Lyon Gang Records, collaborating on hits songs like “Casanova” and “Ogogoro” with singer, Ceezay.

In 2020, Gabriel Amos moved to the United Kingdom, to obtain a masters degree in Data Science at Northumbria University. However, he disallowed the rigours of studying from taking away his active engagement in gospel music. Significantly, he has collaborated with top producers like SMJ, to create an for example an amazing sound like “Surrender”. Far from home in a land that God is with him, his work to propagate the gospel in songs is never ending.
