FRSC officials allegedly manhandle motorist over reckless driving in Asaba

Officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) attached to Delta State command, on Monday evening, reportedly manhandled a commercial driver, leaving his face swollen.

The incident happened in Asaba, Delta State capital.

The Guardian learnt that the officials pummeled the driver for reckless driving.

An eyewitness said the driver was coming from the eastern part of the country and was headed to Lagos when the officials stopped his Sienna and descended on him, along the Onitsha-Asaba expressway.

He said: “They dragged the driver from the vehicle and started beating him while other passengers were shouting and calling on passersby to come to his rescue.”

The state commander, FRSC, Esien Udeme, who confirmed the incident, said the commission was handling the matter.
