Fulfil pledges, PWDs tell Obaseki

Godwin Obaseki, governor of Edo State.

Convener of Edo Disability Forum,  Melody Omosah, yesterday, called on the Edo State Government to fulfil promises, pledges and commitments made to improve the lives of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the state by addressing their needs.

The forum had held engagements with the government on the plight and predicament of PWDs following the removal of fuel subsidy, which had adversely affected PWDs.

Omosah also said the forum craved the partnership of the media to improve the well-being and social integration of PWDs in the state. While briefing newsmen on the Edo Disability Forum (EDF) engagement outcomes with the Obaseki government and other Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Omosah said the PWDs under the forum, had a series of meetings with the state government on measures to ameliorate the plights of PWDs and guarantee their survival in the aftermath of the subsidy removal.

He appealed to Obaseki to put in place sustainable solutions to mitigate the impact of the present harsh economy on persons with disability, particularly ensuring the establishment of Edo State Commission for Persons with Disabilities to oversee the implementation of the Edo State Persons with Disabilities Law.
