Ganduje replaces Dalhatu-led KACCIMA exco

Kano State government has directed the immediate dissolution of the Abubakar Dalhatu-led executive of Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KACCIMA) and approved a caretaker committee to take over the affairs of the chamber for the next six months.

The chamber’s leadership was enmeshed in controversy, which made conduct of fresh election after the expiration of Dalhatu’s council difficult.

The Guardian gathered that the outgoing leaders were supposed to have handed over before now, but failed to do so due to selfish interests. They were also accused of conducting the 2021 trade fair after the expiration of their tenure in office.

However, in a statement, yesterday, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Usman Alhaji, declared that immediate dissolution of the present leadership became necessary to save the image of the chamber.

Besides, the SSG was worried over the leaders’ inability to organise a fresh and acceptable election, even long after the expiration of their tenure.

Governor Ganduje, according to the statement, has already approved the setting up of a nine-member caretaker committee led by renowned industrialist, Lawan Garo, to take over the affairs of the chamber for the purpose of elections.

“The committee’s terms of reference include to organise election within six months as well as to restore peace and sanity in the activities of the chamber,” it noted.

Other members of the committee include Amb. Muktari Gashash (co-chair), representative of the Ministry of Commerce, Dr. Salim Muhammad; Alhaji Yakubu Uba, Alhaji Tijjani Usman, Alh. Kabiru Kura, Aisha Baffa and Alhaji Bashir Dado and Bauran Gaya.
