Gospel Act, Tolulope Soyemi releases I am Victorious

TOLULOPE

Gospel singer, songwriter and music producer, Tolulope Soyemi, has released his latest single, titled I am Victorious.

Formerly known as TDzeal, the voice coach, cinematographer and convener, Ephphatha, a worship concert said: “I have had this song in my drafts since 2016. I wrote it after I quit my job. Thoughts about how difficult getting another job would be almost kept me anxious. I had to remind myself that as a believer, my reality is different. However, a near-death situation last year spurred me to finally release the song.”

Soyemi noted that it’s easy for the situation of the economy and everything happening around us to discourage and destabilize anyone who forgets that as a believer, we have an anchor, and even when things seem impossible, there’s always hope. “It’s a confession, something to help anchor our mindset.”

The Computer Information System graduate who has been directing choirs with professionalism and finesse since his days at Babcock University said he started writing songs at age seven. “I remember that they’d bring me from the children’s church to teach the senior choir at age 10. I will teach and go back to children’s church. It was a fun experience. I just loved music and wanted to serve in any way possible. I took up music as a career in 2012.”

Soyemi strongly believes that praise and worship are powerful ways of winning souls to God. Amongst his singles are Uwese, Papa, Amen, Testimony, Open doors, God of our Fathers and Jesus my inspiration. ‘Papa’ was awarded song of the month in September 2015 by Africa Musika while ‘Amen’ won the Top Naija Gospel Music Award for Best Gospel Single in 2015.

Soyemi has shared the stage with gospel ministers like Nathaniel Bassey, Frank Edwards, Tosin Bee, Mike Abdul, Benita, Eben, Pita, Tosinbee, and Efe Nathan.

On the future of music, he said: “I hope to keep writing songs inspired by the Holy Spirit, leading more choirs, and raising, encouraging, and mentoring younger gospel artists.”
