Grammy Awards: We Have lost The First Amapiano Battle

Netizens are reacting to the losses of Nigerian artists at the 66th Grammy, of which five Nigerian afrobeat musicians failed to win any of their categories.

Tyla from South Africa won in the best African music category being the only shining light from Africa. Her win came ahead of the likes of Burnaboy, Davido, Ayra Star, Asake and Olamide.

While Davido has already congratulated Tyla, saying it as a ‘Win for Africa’ , Nigerians are taking none of it, as they see it as a loss in the Amapiano battle.

Nigerians feel, not winning or having any major nominee at the categories already gave the South Africans the edge currently, with their hope now hanging on Wednesday’s semi-final football match in the ongoing 2023 AFCON.

Nigerians will now turn their attention to AFCON, on Wednesday, when Nigeria’s Super Eagles face the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in Cote D’ Ivoire. Nigerians will hope for a ‘payback’ time with a redemption win and book a place in the final.
